A Project in Motion: The Necessity of Returning

  • Exploring a territory and understanding a culture cannot be confined to a single visit. Each journey is merely an initial approach, an incomplete sketch of a much deeper and more complex reality. Observation, documentation, and comprehension require time, repeated interactions, and a foundation of trust with the communities encountered.

For this reason, it is not unlikely that I will return to certain territories I have already explored. These returns are not mere repetitions but rather opportunities to deepen the analysis, uncover dynamics that were invisible at first, and access new layers of cultural and human narratives.

Societies evolve, traditions shift, and each visit sheds light on different facets of the same reality. Returning means bearing witness to change, challenging initial impressions with new perspectives, and enriching the overall understanding of the project.

Thus, Civilisation is not confined to a linear trajectory; it follows an open-ended timeline, where the exploration of a place may span multiple journeys and several years. This approach allows for a more profound grasp of the cultures encountered and a long-term documentation of their transformations.
